Careplus

Careplus helps patients with chronic illness and/or high health needs by providing longer consultations with your Doctor or Nurse, at a lower cost. There are certain criteria patients need to meet before being enrolled in Careplus.

Please speak to your Doctor for more information on the criteria, and whether Careplus is right for you.

Diabetes Consults

Diabetes consultations with your Nurse or Doctor may be free. Patients must have been diagnosed with diabetes and be enrolled with Careplus. Your consultation can only be about your Diabetes.

Minor Surgery

Most minor surgery will take at least 30 minutes of the doctor and nurse’s time.

Cost

You can expect to pay between $180 and $240 for the surgery including materials. There will be a charge for removal of stitches (including most materials) and for any other nurse consultations in relation to your surgery.

The Procedure

The doctor will explain to you why the surgery needs to be done, how he or she is going to do it including anesthetic, type of wound, stitching up the wound and care after the surgery. Also if there are other options  for treatment and other risks such as bleeding, infection, bruising  or the wound splitting apart.

Local anesthetic by injection will generally be used, sometimes with adrenaline to lessen the chance of bleeding. Instruments that are used are sterilised according to approved processes. It is usual to send the skin lesion for laboratory testing.

Afterwards

There will always be some kind of scarring and with any minor surgery there is a chance of infection. The end result may not be what you expected. Some lesions are difficult to remove or may need more surgery to remove a bigger piece of skin or referral to a specialist. The nurse will explain to you how to look after your wound and how to tell if there is infection
starting.

Payment on the day is necessary

If you need to make a different arrangement please ask to speak with our team who will discuss payment options with you.
