Using drugs and alcohol at a young age has adverse effects on physical and emotional health. It is not uncommon for young people to experiment, but they tend to feel indestructible and immune to potential problems. 

If you have concerns, consult your doctor or talk to a nurse to check for any physical cause of the warning signs.

Some warning signs of drug and alcohol use are:

Physical: Fatigue, red and glazed eyes, a lasting cough.

Emotional: personality change, sudden mood changes, irritability, irresponsible behavior, low self-esteem, poor judgment, depression, and a general lack of interest.

Family: starting arguments, breaking rules, or withdrawing from the family.

School: decreased interest, negative
