Working with Us
We offer a supportive work environment at Tōtara Health and are focused on enabling our staff to achieve a healthy balance between work and the lifestyle that they want.
Staff
There are 17 GPs, 15 Nurses, 2 Healthcare Assistants, 14 Customer Service staff, 3 Administrators, 2 Healthcare Navigators, 3 Clinical Pharmacists, 3 Counsellors/Health Improvement Practitioners, and 4 Health Coaches .
Tōtara Health runs a clinical governance model with the Clinical Director working closely with our Operations Managers to support the practice, its staff and patients.
Teaching and education
Tōtara Health is a teaching practice. Doctors who are part of the GP training programme are placed by the senior clinician at one of our two clinics.
The practice is also “Cornerstone” accredited by the College of General Practice in New Zealand. Cornerstone is an annual review of the practice and allocates a pass or fail rating. It is necessary to be accredited to be a “teaching practice”.
Both the Tōtara Heath clinics are well equipped and maintained. The practice holds regular CME sessions with all GP’s and nurses and the Tōtara GP’s hold monthly peer group meetings.
Tōtara Health provides a nursing model of care to improve chronic care management and support patients with long term conditions. The practice also actively supports new graduate nurses into general practice and has developed an
effective way to support their integration.
